Besides suffering from sever asthma most of my life, My dream of being a professional PC gamer (Yes, seriously – but that’s a different story for a different time) left me overweight and socially awkward. The game was Counter-Strike 1.6 for those of you that are curious. FPS > MMORPG .
When I was 17 I decided losing weight might not be so bad of an idea. After all, being in better shape meant looking better and improving my chances with girls.
Hey, I was a high school boy that didn’t want to die a virgin.
My cousin was a huge motivator for me. He’s an amateur bodybuilder who dated models and frequently had pool parties throughout the summer where his girlfriends and their pretty friends would show up. Even if they were too old for me, I never felt comfortable taking my shirt off in front of them. I always wanted to know what it was like to be so comfortable with my body and be able to talk to beautiful women.
At My Worst, I Was 195lbs Of Fat! – I Decided To Do Something About It.
I took action. I read up on weight training, cardio, nutrition, supplements, etc. I devoured whatever information I could get my hands on.
To my surprise – and everyone else’s, I lost 30lbs over a summer. Clothes were fitting better, I was happier, and I got more attention from girls. However, I still wasn’t 100% comfortable in my own body. I needed to put on some muscle!
I ended up going all the way back up to 195lbs, but it wasn’t one of those situations where somebody loses a bunch of weight and then gains it back. This time when I saw the 195lbs on the scale I wasn’t depressed, because I saw something much different in the mirror. This time, I was 195lbs of muscle.
I started getting more compliments, my friends started asking me for advice, my confidence increased, and I’m overall just a much happier more social person. I love what bodybuilding has done for me.
I know what it’s like to not feel comfortable with my body.

I know there are a ton of websites out there that hammer you with e-mails about the next big thing. Maybe it’s a new workout routine that provides better results in half the time or maybe it’s a new miracle supplement. I’m going to tell you the truth about those websites (I might get a lot of shit for it too). Those guys don’t genuinely care if you ever meet your goals or get the body you really want. They’re in it for a quick buck. That’s why they keep pitching you $100 workout programs and overpriced supplements.
